For January, I’d like to introduce you to Jonathan Gunson: author, illustrator, indie publisher of the “Goggles” series, and TV producer. Why the arts? Take a look at 10 reasons why the arts are so important for child development inside.
And, regarding the visual arts, to me, the best picture books have outstanding art. Sometimes, simple is good. Sometimes very detailed is better. (Kids love to find things hidden on the pages.) I prefer traditional watercolor and ink, myself, but there are some really good digital artists that can enhance a great traditional piece.
