“Owww! Oh, Feebs, I’m trapped! Can you get help?”

The first of the Bandana Acres series features a kitten who learns she has courage and compassion when she comes to the aid of distressed Ollie, the farm dog.

Thought-provoking questions in the “What-If” discussion questions to apply to real life. Some decisions need to be made BEFORE something happens. Check it out.

(available in print and digital)

“Oh, no! Why didn’t I wait?”

Young rascals lives on the edge and doesn’t give much thought before he acts on an idea. In this story, he earns a bandana for learning to think ahead to avoid negative consequences.

Lots of “what if” questions guide discussion about consequences in real life after the story.

“This makes me mad! What should I do?”

There must be conflict between a fun-loving otter and a hard-working beaver! In this story both animals earn a bandana for learning how to settle their differences, particularly Nibbler, the beaver, who is angry because Captain damages his hard work on his lodge and dam.

Handling anger in real life is a big part of the discussion questions at the end of the story. (A timely topic in today’s world.)

“How long will you be gone?”

Papa Hoot is missing and Hootin must feed the owlets by herself. Have you ever known anyone who thinks they have to do it all? Well, that is Hootin. She earns a bandana for being flexible and trusting her Bandana Acres friends to give her a helping hand.

The discussion questions after the story will prompt you to answer questions about working and playing with others in your life.

“Wait! That’s not a coyote. Is he here to help me?”

A red fox named Kit tries to make friends with the wary barnyard animals and a pond turtle named Zartie. When he makes a promise to Zartie and fails to deliver, he’s apologetic. Later, when he’s in trouble, Ollie, the farm dog, comes to his rescue. He earns a banana for learning the value of trust.

Trust is easily lost and difficult to earn back. Children will think about honesty, responsibility, secrets (when is that okay?), promises, and more in the discussion questions at the end of this story.

Great gift idea for your young readers!
