"What's Your Things?" Meet London Book Designer - Rachel Lawston
MY PEOPLE ANGELS: PART 2 OF 12 - RACHEL LAWSTON
Most of us don’t have all the skills required to complete a first-rate book, and it takes admitting that for me. This month, I’m featuring Rachel Lawston of Lawston Design, London, England who is my professional book designer. Unless you know a lot about the technical In-Design program, I highly recommend hiring someone with experience for this work. Click on her link above to read more about her. Read the blog to the end for great Valentine’s Day crafts and a lesson on Leap Year too.
Kids: What Rachel does is take an author’s words and the illustrator’s pictures and put them together with nice type styles and arrangement to make a nice-looking book.
Always remember, NEVER BE AFRAID TO ASK FOR HELP!
I asked Rachel a few questions including what she would tell her 7-year old self. I invite you in to click to read more. Share this with your kids. Thanks!
“What would you tell your 2nd grade self?”
What achievement are you most proud of? Why?
What was school like for you? Did you have a favorite subject? What?
How far away from home have you traveled? Where? Do you have a favorite place to vacation?
Could you send pictures of some of your favorite designs? And, pictures of your family?
Here she is with her beloved husband, Paul, in Iceland! Some of her favorite designs follow.
If you like details and art, you could be a book designer someday!
Crafting for Valentine’s Day
Kids! Here’s a link to a fun activity for Valentine’s Day. Super easy & fun. This is used with permission from Jessica Boschen. I subscribe to her blog for parents and teachers. She has lots of great stuff. Just click on the blue link above to go to get a FREE craftivity! (You will need to subscribe to her blog to receive it though.)
Another great idea for Valentine’s Day is to color pieces of paper with crayon, markers, paint, chalk, anything. Then cut out hearts, or other shapes, and glue them to a paper card you make
