Changing Genres?

Emeline ~ A Journey has experienced major changes this month. Here are 12 of them:

  1. Received awesome review from The Wishing Shelf. (click button below to read it)

  2. What I thought was a middle-grade novel became a young adult (teen or tween) novel.

  3. My designer, Rachel, has worked with the text to appeal to teens. She’s finished now and it looks amazing!

  4. Unfortunately, most of the beautiful illustrations will need to be used as bookmarks, notecards, banners, and other marketing materials. The only ones used are on the cover and the map inside. This is because teens will think the book is too young for them if they see illustrations.

  5. Beth, my editor, has completed editing the text - twice!

  6. The cover has had a major transformation - and it…is…gorgeous.

  7. I’m have new estimates from my printer and should have the book by November 1st.

  8. My copyright date is now 2021. Like cars, if an author publishes a book late in the year, they often put the next year as the copyright date so it’s a new book for a whole year. But you can still get it in 2020.

  9. I am ready to set up the title on ACX and hire my narrator, Abigail VanTerry, who will begin recording the audiobook.

  10. I also need to contact an e-book creator.

  11. A BIG THING I’m still working out is how I want to distribute the book, outside of myself. Still researching that. Because everyone wants a piece of the pie, the least expensive way to purchase the books will always be directly from me on my website store.

  12. Marketing plan is in place and working.

As you can see, it’s been a very busy month. I hope this post finds you well. Be sure to tell your friends and family that might be interested in this blog to go to my website: kathyjperry.com and sign up! In a couple of weeks I’ll be doing another book review for you. Blessings ~ Kathy
