Middle-Grade Fiction Review

DOES WHAT YOU SAY AND DO MATTER?

A Review of Wolf Hollow, by Lauren Wolk

I began reading Wolf Hollow one evening and finished it the very next day, so gripping was this story of an eleven year-old girl who discovers the problems that escalate with the telling of lies, or hiding the truth, even for a good reason. Though this story carefully reflects life in the 1940’s, its thematic elements of bullying, lies, truth, and justice are timeless. Today’s readers will quickly identify with the problems she encounters and empathize with her struggle for justice. I recommend this book for children from ages 10-13 or above. ~ Kathy J Perry
