July Author Update

Oakwoods Progress

I think I wrote Pip’s story five different ways before I liked it. Following an editorial review, I made some wonderful improvements. Thank you, John Briggs. Claudia finished all the beautiful illustrations. Proofreading is complete, too, and it’s now in the capable hands of my interior designer, Rebecca at Design for Writers. Rebecca’s husband, Andrew, designed the cover, which I’m pleased to share with you here. You can’t really see it unless you zoom in, but there’s a faint fern-like texture in the background. Love it!

The second book, Sally Skunkskin, has been written and is with John for his editorial review and Claudia is working on the sketches.

I’ve written the first draft of Benjamin Bat but I’m not sure about it. I may try some different directions.

School Visit

I had the privilege of speaking to three groups of summer-school students—a total of 270 children! I adjusted the presentations according to three age groups. I always come away with new ideas after such visits. I love the Q&A at the end.

Website Update

Take a look at my website. I’ve installed a new template and love how it turned out.

Next Blog

A Zoom interview with author Amy Harmon. I’m enjoying her latest release and it’s another great one: The Outlaw Noble Salt. It’s a story about Butch Cassidy (if he hadn’t died). Riveting! I liked her book, A Girl Called Samson, too. We’ll discuss her author journey and writing habits.

(Caution: This story has adult themes and some early 1900s language from the outlaw. Not children’s books.)

The Story Origin Audiobook Promotion

Clean, cozy stories for young and old. Trade your review for a FREE audiobook. (My book, Finding Strength: During the Panic of 1893 is one of them. It’s a brand-new release, too.) Click HERE or on the image and check it out. Promo runs through July.

Have a safe, fun, 4th of July, friends.
