Small Steps are Still Steps
Author Update
January was a busy month of planning, and doing other things other than writing, but I saw some progress. I hope you found joy, even amid all the goings-on. Read more to see what I’ve been up to, won’t you?
WRITING
I attended several MCPL zoom classes about writing and oral storytelling in January. The classes in story story crafting got the creative juices flowing and helped me process the outline of my upcoming sequel to Emeline - A Journey.
My Journey, a guided journal for tweens and teens, is with Rachel, my designer, right now. I’m so excited to see what she does with it!
Abigail, my narrator for Emeline - A Journey audiobook, sent me the first half (although she’s recorded more than that) and I absolutely love it. You will too. She gives a performance, not just a reading, with different voices and accents. She brings the story to life!
I’ve been analyzing different social media outlets and am uncertain about it all. I enjoy keeping up with everyone and putting in my two-cents now and then, but for sales I just want to concentrate on in-person or virtual visits and conferences, but with COVID, this is most difficult. (If I never hear this word ever again, it won’t be too soon.)
Having perched on MeWe for over a month, I’ve decided NOT to stay. I plan to post again on Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Pinterest, and I’ll start a new Instagram (since someone hacked my first one).
LIFE
Work is going well at my part-time job with Van’s Fence. Lots of business!
Family is doing well and looking forward to watching the Chiefs at Super Bowl LV February 7th!
My two aquariums (home and work) are both doing well. I enjoy watching “Fish TV”. So relaxing, though it takes weekly upkeep.
Our tenants both renewed their leases for the coming year and are doing well. Chef Marcus has started this little business. Read about it on their Facebook page, The KCitchen, where you can order up prepared food and have it delivered to your home. Read the next week’s menu, order by Friday, and receive the meals which you just need to warm up! (Kansas City area)
Polite Asks: Please and Thank You…
If you have kids in school and think their school might be interested in a free author visit (with the option of parents purchasing books), please give my website address (kathyjperry.com) to them. I have given school visits for all ages from K-12th grades.
Consider purchasing Emeline - A Journey for your middle-school or young adult kids. Read about it on my website. Don’t forget to leave a brief review on Amazon - even if you just click a star rating only. That counts.
What books are you and/or your kids reading? Please put the titles in the comments. I’d love to know for future book reviews!!
