Oakwoods Update

So far, everything is right on schedule for an April 2025 release. Hopefully, this continues. You never know when life might interrupt you—or others on your team. (After trips to Colorado and Indiana, I became ill for a week, so I missed a lot of work at my part-time job in August.)

• Pip O’Possum: Work, Then Play is finished.

• Sally Skunkskin: Grumbles to Grateful is finished.

• Benjamin Bat: Humility is having the interior designed now.

• Nuts!: Teamwork is being edited and illustrated.

• Popinjay: Self-Control is being written. I had to change the title because of what I learned about crows. They gather by the thousands in winter for warmth & communication about food sources. Plus, crows do NOT collect things. They might pick up something to use as a tool to get food, but they won’t save it. Now the story is about a bluejay instead. :)

Colorado Trip

Had a lot of fun for a week in the mountains, though we didn’t expect it to be in the 80s most of the time. Some things we did:

• rode horseback (I was on a mule)

• visited a working gold mine (took home a trace of it, too, for answering a question)

• attended a quilt show and voted on our favorites

• shopped (bought some neat stuff)

• watched bird and other wildlife (hummingbirds, magpie, moose, chipmunks)

• hiked and drove through Rocky Mountain National Park (closed Oct-May)

• visited an old settlement in the RMNP - 10 miles from the headwaters of the Colorado River.

• attended a live performance of The Music Man (excellent)

• ate at a few great restaurants, though we also cooked in the condo

• painted switch plate covers with acrylics in the condo

• caught up with each other’s lives

• made plans to do this again next year—in Montana—with husbands

This was at an altitude of nearly 12,000 feet (above the tree line). They sold oxygen in a nearby shop. Very scary drive going up.
