Finding Strength: During the Panic of 1893 won the 2nd quarter 2024 Firebird Award in three categories:
Cover design: 2nd place
Coming of Age Fiction: 1st place
Young Adult Christian Historical Fiction: 1st place

Sally Skunkskin Cover
After deliberating over it for a while, Claudia and I decided against the cover designer’s adaptation of book two’s illustration. The new cover shows she lives in the woods, the mushrooms, and even the praying mantis. We wanted all of these on the cover. Her size is better with Pip’s cover, too.
And, a last minute addition: Benjamin Bat’s cover: hot off the press. This book will feature a firefly in each illustration. :)
Off to Cool Colorado!
Probably the last time I’ll get on a horse (or mule). But it was fun! And, beautiful.
My two sisters and I are meeting up in Fraser, Colorado for a fun-filled week of sisterhood in the “icebox capital” of the world. Packing a jacket in August. So weird.
Looking forward to spending time together. It’s been ten years since the last time we did this.
